This August, my family and I had the chance to visit Brigadiers in London, a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant, that had been on our list for quite some time. Although my visit to London was only 4 days, we wanted to visit the restaurant and enjoy some delicious Indian food that I had been craving for some time. The visit was extra special, as we were in town to spend time with my parents and also scout out the food scene ahead of my daughter’s first birthday celebration in September, which we plan to celebrate in London.
First Impressions
Walking into Brigadiers, we were immediately struck by the lively and bustling atmosphere. The restaurant had a contagious energy — a little loud at times, but in the best way possible, adding to the vibrant dining experience. We were 4 adults and 1 toddler. The indoors were too dark for our taste and quite loud, knowing we had a toddler as well, so we decided to sit outside on the terrace and enjoy our meal.
What We Ate at Brigadiers London
We kicked things off with a starter that instantly brought back memories of Indian street food:
-
Bombay Vada Pao – soft buns filled with spiced potato fritters, served with chutneys that packed just the right punch. A nostalgic favourite, and the perfect way to start our meal.

From there on, we decided to try a mix of dishes that showcased Brigadiers’ reputation for bold Indian food flavours:
-
Royal Madras Gobhi with Malabar Paratha – a hearty, flavorful vegetarian dish that paired beautifully with the paratha. A char on top, curry leaves, and a delicious tomato-based gravy. Topped with ginger stick dressing.

-
Methi Chicken Chop – rich, aromatic, and packed with spice, this was one of the standouts of the evening. Charred and oozing with flavours. I recommend ordering the Methi Chicken Chop at Brigadiers, which pairs perfectly with alcoholic beverages like beer.

-
Paneer Butter Masala – comforting, creamy, and absolutely delicious; it was a crowd-pleaser at our table. I loved it the most, especially due to the buttery gravy.
And then came the desserts — easily the highlight for all of us:
-
Alphonso Mango Mousse Pistachio Rabri Trifle – refreshing and tropical, perfect for summer, indulgent layers of texture and flavour that left us wanting more.

To our delight, the staff surprised us with a coconut ice cream, an unexpected and memorable treat that ended our meal on the sweetest note.

How to reach Brigadiers London
Brigadiers is located in the heart of the City of London (1-5 Bloomberg Arcade, EC4N 8AR), just a short walk from Bank and Mansion House Underground stations. The Bloomberg Arcade itself is pedestrian-friendly, making it easy to reach on foot once you hop off the Tube.
If you’re coming with family, the area is also well connected by buses and taxis, and there’s some parking nearby — though it’s often easier to rely on public transport in central London.
Do You Need a Reservation to enjoy delicious food at Brigadiers London?
Given its popularity, reservations are highly recommended, especially if you’re visiting for dinner or planning a celebration. The restaurant can get quite busy (as we saw during our visit), and booking ahead ensures you’ll have a table waiting. You can reserve online directly through their website.
Tourist Tips for Visiting Brigadiers
If you’re visiting London as a tourist and want to add Brigadiers to your itinerary, here are a few helpful things to know:
-
Nearby Attractions – Brigadiers is perfectly located for sightseeing. It’s within walking distance of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Bank of England Museum, and the Millennium Bridge, which leads you to the Tate Modern and the Southbank. Perfect for combining a day of sightseeing with a memorable dinner.
-
Best Time to Visit – Lunchtimes are slightly quieter compared to evenings, so if you want a more relaxed atmosphere, that might be a better option. Evenings tend to be loud, especially on weekdays when the City is full of professionals.
-
Dress Code – Smart casual works well here. It’s not overly formal, but you’ll feel comfortable dressing up a little for dinner.
-
Dietary Options – Brigadiers has an excellent selection of vegetarian dishes and is accommodating for dietary preferences, making it a great choice for groups. However, keep in mind the majority of Indian food is on the spicy side :).
-
Budgeting – Prices are on the higher end, as expected for central London dining, but the quality of the food and service make it worthwhile. If you’re planning a special occasion, it’s a fantastic choice.
Reflections
Dining at Brigadiers felt like much more than just a meal — it was an experience. Between the vibrant setting, the creative yet comforting food, and the thoughtful service, it was the perfect spot for family time and celebration.
This visit has made us even more excited about planning my daughter’s birthday this September 2025. If our August meal was anything to go by, the celebration will be truly unforgettable.
