Birthday Celebration Dinner Cruise on the Thames River

We all gathered in London to celebrate my dad’s birthday celebration dinner cruise on the Thames River this July 2022. We heard a lot about it and wanted to celebrate this occasion on the Thames River cruise. It is a fantastic place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries etc. I booked the tickets for 6 of us from Viator which was the London Dinner cruise on the Thames River. My wife and I travelled from Tallinn, Estonia and my mom, brother and his wife travelled from New Delhi, India.

It was a special occasion, as it is very rare that we are able to gather all in London after so long. Especially due to Covid restrictions lasting 2 years. It has been a rough time for friends and family to gather. So here we are at the Westminster Pier sharp by 6.30 pm. Even though our cruise will start by 7 pm. We wanted to make sure that we reach in time and in case of any issues with finding the cruise we have ample time to go to the right place.

Dinner Cruise Starting Point

We had to reach the departure point which was: Westminster Pier, Victoria Embankment, London SW1A 2JH, UK. See the map below.

At the entry which was the boarding point gate, we walked along and were greeted by the ticket checker. we had our London Dinner cruise on the Thames River in hand. Also, Viator sent us a mail where we can add the ticket to the Apple wallet as well.

Dinner cruise starting point
Dinner Cruise Starting Point

We waited in the waiting area to post our ticket check. And we were called to get inside the cruise in like another 10 minutes or so. I was super excited to see the Thames River, London Eye, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. We were asked to queue and we entered the cruise and were given a table for six next to the window. The fantastic view around, while the cruise was a little wobbly.

4 Course Meal Experience at Dinner Cruise

We sat for a while and the background music started playing. The cruise was moving along and we crossed London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Tower Bridge, and Canary Wark. While enjoying the London city views. The Food service started and we were first served some drinks. We had the option of having alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. By default, they were serving Sparkling wine.

Bread, butter and Salad for Starters

we were served Bread, butter, and Salad, as we opted for the vegetarian option when we were booking for the cruise. Just want to highlight that please do make sure that when you are doing your booking, please share your food choice i.e. vegetarian, non-vegetarian and any allergies in advance. When you are placing your booking you will be asked about your food preferences.

Vegetarian Artichokes Lasagne for the main course

had Lasagne Of Artichokes, Spinach And Sauté Of Mixed Mushrooms, and Goats Cheese (V), Served With Seasonal Vegetables. The meal was delicious and was enough for one person. We ordered some wine. It was overall a good combination of food and drink.

Chocolate Truffle cake for Dessert

Finally, we reached the dessert and we got white, Dark And Milk Chocolate Truffle Cake (V) Served With A Raspberry Coulis. The dessert was too big for my wife, so we said we want only one. And my mother knowing diabetic, asked for tea for her instead.

After dessert, we all had the option of coffee, or tea as a palate cleanser.

I wished we had a cake as well, would have been awesome to cut it on the cruise, but we completely forgot about it. Anyways, overall the meal was delicious and all six of us enjoyed it.

Live performance at the Cruise

There was nice celebration-related music all the time in the background. After our meals, there was a live performance and the anchor was asking everyone to share the reason for their visit to come to the dinner cruise today. The majority of the people were celebrating their birthdays or anniversaries. The anchor came to us and asked us as well, we shared it was our dad’s birthday. So everyone gave a round of applause and wished him a happy birthday.

The whole cruise was full of positive vibes and everyone enjoyed it. We all started dancing later and took loads of pictures of all of London’s iconic buildings. As the festive time of the year is approaching you can also book the Christmas Dinner Party Cruise to have fantastic Christmas celebrations with your friends, office colleagues and family.

From Westminster Pier to HMS Belfast and Back

The cruise started from Westminster Pier and we were taken through beautiful London Icons like:

  • Westminster Pier
  • London Eye
  • Shakespeare Globe Theatre
  • Tower Bridge
  • Canary Warf
  • Tower of London
  • The Shard
  • Sea Life London Aquarium
  • St Pauls Cathedral
  • HMS Belfast
  • Canary Wark
  • Cutty Sark
  • O2 Arena
  • Old Royal Naval College

Overall Experience at Thames River Dinner Cruise

It was a fantastic place to celebrate a birthday or any occasion you want to make it special. We enjoyed the food, live music, and ambience set on the cruise. The duration of the cruise is less than 3 hours or so. It is a perfect place for any celebration. We enjoyed our time and at the end of the day when you have your family the time always becomes enjoyable and amazing.

My Day out at ZSL London Zoo

ZSL London Zoo had been on my wish list to go to for quite a long time. And finally this Friday I got the chance to book in and go and see some wildlife. I was excited when I came to know that I would be able to see Tigers, Lions, crocodiles and other deadly predators. I booked my tickets online from the London Tour Package website which offers great packages for families and individuals, I was able to save time and book the tickets for the two of us without much hassle. You can book your ZSL London Zoo tickets here: “Click Here

We reached ZSL London Zoo around noon. I wanted to make sure that we don’t miss any of the sights and be there all day so that we see and cover all that ZSL London Zoo has to offer. Make sure you keep the ticket printouts ready, they won’t allow you to enter if you have booked your tickets in advance and have not brought the printed-out tickets. It was a sunny day we showed our ticket printouts and entered the Zoo, without queuing up.  Generally, ZSL London Zoo gets crowded and the queue gets long, as went on Friday early afternoon we didn’t face much discomfort.

Statue of Guy the Gorilla in ZSL London Zoo
Statue of Guy the Gorilla in ZSL London Zoo

After entering inside we came across a giant Gorilla made of copper. We came to know later that the statue was made in the name of “Guy the Gorilla” who moved to ZSL London Zoo in 1947. We moved on and saw the Aquarium and Reptile house on the right. We looked at the map, which we were provided at the entrance. At first instance, we felt that we wouldn’t be able to see all the animals today, so we decided to go with the big animals first, the more exotic ones. The ones, we had not seen in our lives, so the nearest one was the Gorilla Kingdom which went to see first. Seeing the gorilla for the first time, I was simply staggered by how massive they were and so humble. When we came close to their enclosure, we saw them lazing and hanging with the branches, not bothered about the celebrity status they have got. School kids look at them with sheer excitement. We watched the small monkeys too playing around.

Tiger Territory

And then in front of us awaited the Tiger Territory. We were super excited to see our first Sumatran Tiger. As far as I remember I saw a tiger in my whole life, I once saw a Lion in the Delhi Zoo which is my old memory. We went straight in and my god what we were about to see was something I had never felt and seen with my eyes. We saw a tiger named JJ first and my god he was beautiful huge and unbelievably real walking in front of our eyes. We loved it so much that we spent around half an hour just to get a closer glimpse of JJ. We then came to know from the keepers that there are 3 more young cubs of about year-old each in the enclosure. We also got the chance to see tigers feed. And man it was a treat seeing these tigers.

We then moved on to the Outback where we saw Ostrich and Kangaroos. By the time we reached there, it got very windy so we spent a few minutes and took some pictures and moved on to see some more exotic animals. We then arrived at the Reptile House, where we saw varied types of small to big lizards, and venomous snakes. Viewing wildlife from my eyes in real was a great experience and was excited to look more good we saw two tortoises at our exit. We came to know they were very old about 80 years old already. Tortoises can live up to 150 years old. It was a great sight to see some animals living longer than humans. We then moved on to bugs life, cattle farms and so many other wildlife creatures there.

There were few noticeable animals, which just took my breath away Meerkats were one of them. After seeing the butterflies, insects, owls, and pigs, we went to see Penguin Beach. It was an amazing sight, we saw them playing on their beach-kind of themed area with a nice glass-walled pool. We stayed there for a while and enjoyed and observed the penguins.  Ahead we saw so many other animals and birds whose names were completely new to us. This made us realise that they all are exotic and rare.

We came to know that almost 1000 species are being exhibited in the zoo and more than 20,000 Animals live there. 982 species and 20185 animals to be exact. These are some biblical numbers and imagine we had so much to see in a day. Well while looking at the map provided to us we came to know they also have African African-themed park where they had Giraffes and zebras. You have to cross the bridge either from near the entrance or next to the Terrace Restaurant. As we were close to Penguin Beach we went through the bridge near to us next to Zoo Shop & Exit and The Terrace Restaurant.

We came across the Reindeer on the right-hand side and then didn’t even know these cuties’ names, oh yes the Giant River Otters they were playing around in a small transparent water pool. Essentially the area was called the Happy Families.

Nightlife and RainForest Life

Then we came across the Nightlife and rainforest Life. We first went into the nightlife, it was a pitch-black dark place. We came across all the wildlife, which lives way deep in the water and unknown world. It was pretty freaky out there.

We moved on to the Rainforest Life. It was a completely different setup enclosure for all the wildlife, which lives in rain forests of Pacific temperature, Amazon rain forests, and Congo rain forests to name a few. When we entered the enclosure was maintained like an actual rainforest. The water was drizzled all around the place with an automatic system, like every 5 minutes or so. This was pretty impressive. We saw numerous types of monkeys and lizards lazing in their enclosures. We saw Costa Rica Capuchin Monkeys, Golden Lion Tamarin, Sloth, Emperor Tamarin, Brown Howler Monkey and squirrel monkeys to name a few which we saw there.

African Wildlife

We then moved on to the Africa Area, surely we all know the biggest animals are found in Africa, and to our delight yes we saw 14 14-foot giraffes, Zebras, hippopotamuses, and Okapis. We were simply amazed by the height of the Giraffes, we saw 3 of them and they all looked very healthy and tall touching 6 meters or 20 feet, we spent some time there as it was about 4 pm and they were feeding giraffes with evening snacks. We then saw the Zebras and Okapis; they both were busy grazing here and there. Okapis is a unique animal though, having stripy legs like a zebra and a head like a giraffe.

After seeing the African wildlife we moved on to the exit and to do that we had to go to the Happy Family theme park through an underground tunnel and on the left.

The Terrace Restaurant and Zoo Shop

Before we went out we had a snack and tea at The Terrace Restaurant and then looked around the Zoo Shop, they had a pretty nice collection of stuffed toys and stationery themed around wildlife and ZSL London Zoo. All in all a fantastic trip to the ZSL London Zoo, and we were very pleased. If planning your visit to London, I believe it’s a great place to hang out with kids and family. So don’t think much when you have read my blog article all the till now, m sure you are excited and want to book your ZSL London Zoo tickets soon. Paddington Movie and the Trail

Well, this is kind of an interesting story about a bear, not a normal bear but a bear gifted from a husband to a wife on Christmas Eve of 1956 while he was travelling via the Paddington station. This is how Michael Bond gave the stories their name The Paddington Bear. One thing is for sure, kids of young age who have read about Paddington Bear in their childhood will surely going to enjoy the movie. I myself am very excited to see the film.

Recently there has been a Walking tour organised by Viator to help you go around all the places in London where the Paddington Bear is located. See key filming locations from the Paddington Bear movie, as well as places in the Paddington Bear books.

In celebration of British art and culture Visit London, NSPCC and StudioCanal have come up with a rather interesting exploration campaign in and around London with the name the Paddington Trail. The campaign as per Visit London has already started and we call can see 50 Paddington statues across London in public places. This is sure quite an adventure. As I myself am not in London and if you go around in London, you are most welcome to share your pictures with us here or on our Facebook, Google, and Twitter pages.

The Paddington Trail Map

If you would like to know where you could find the Paddington Bear statues please look at the map here:

The bears are named after many famous people for example  Nicole Kidman, Emma Watson, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, and even a bear for the Telegraph. It’s instead a nice exploration for tourists to London too. People who are coming to London for the first time, have got a little extra to explore this time. If you want to buy memorabilia or stuffed toys, you could buy them from Selfridges, Harrods, Hamley’s or any good toy store.
