What to Expect from Leeds Castle, Canterbury Cathedral & the White Cliffs of Dover tour

You’ll start your day in Central London near Victoria Station (Meeting point details mentioned below), where you’ll meet your guide and board your coach. As you leave the city behind and head into the rolling hills of Kent (known as the “Garden of England”), pop on your Vox headphones to hear your guide’s live commentary—perfect for catching all the juicy facts without missing a single sight. You will have ample of time to make sure you capture beautiful pictures throughout the day.

First Stop: Leeds Castle

Surrounded by a moat and nestled in 500 acres of stunning parkland, Leeds Castle is often called “the loveliest castle in the world”—and once you see it, you’ll understand why. Built in the 12th century, the castle has served many roles: a royal palace, a military stronghold, and even a prison.

King Henry VIII used to escape here, gifting the castle to his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. And over the centuries, it became home to six queens. During your visit, your guide will walk you through its fascinating history—and you’ll have time to explore the gardens, lakes, and maybe even stop for a coffee at the café.

Canterbury Cathedral

This isn’t just another old church—it’s the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the spiritual leader of the Church of England. It’s also where Thomas Becket was famously murdered in 1170 after a feud with King Henry II, an event that shook the nation and turned the cathedral into a place of pilgrimage.

Inside, you’ll find soaring Gothic arches, intricate stained glass, and a sense of peace that’s hard to describe.

Birthday Celebration Dinner Cruise on the Thames River

/////

We all gathered in London to celebrate my dad’s birthday celebration dinner cruise on the Thames River this July 2022. We heard a lot about it and wanted to celebrate this occasion on the Thames River cruise. It is a fantastic place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries etc. I booked the tickets for 6 of us from Viator which was the London Dinner cruise on the Thames River. My wife and I travelled from Tallinn, Estonia and my mom, brother and his wife travelled from New Delhi, India.

It was a special occasion, as it is very rare that we are able to gather all in London after so long. Especially due to Covid restrictions lasting 2 years. It has been a rough time for friends and family to gather. So here we are at the Westminster Pier sharp by 6.30 pm. Even though our cruise will start by 7 pm. We wanted to make sure that we reach in time and in case of any issues with finding the cruise we have ample time to go to the right place.

I was super excited to see the Thames River, Lastminute.com London Eye, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Strawberry Moon over the UK

/

An incredible full moon was spotted in the skies above the UK on the 5th of June 2020 night. The full moon, this month known as the strawberry moon or rose moon reached its peak this night and made for some fantastic photography across the country from the late afternoon into the evening. This full moon is referred to as the Strawberry Moon by Native American tribes, as it typically comes at the time of year when strawberries begin to ripen.

There’s often a myth the strawberry moon gets its name because it has a pinkish tinge to it but that’s not the case. June’s full moon is known as the Strawberry moon because it coincides with strawberry picking season in the USA. A spokesperson from the Royal Observatory said: In North America, harvesting strawberries in June gives that month’s full moon its name.

To some, it appears either pink or red when it is close to the horizon, however, it is viewed through a much thicker layer of the Earth’s atmosphere.

The full moon also coincides with a penumbral lunar eclipse, whereby the Earth comes between the Sun and the moon and blocks some of the light. The reduction in light resulted in a reddish tinge on the moon’s appearance, which is why it is coined a strawberry moon.

“In the current climate, a lower than average level of pollution combined with a good weather forecast made the view even clearer.”

Why is it called a strawberry moon??

Different cultures have assigned a variety of names to full moons across the lunar calendar in history, but the most well-known and commonly used full moon monikers, such as the strawberry moon, came from Native American culture.?

In June, the full moon is known as the strawberry moon because, in North America, the harvesting of strawberries has historically taken place in June.?

The June moon is also known as the rose moon. in some European cultures, while other cultures know it as the hot moon because it marks the beginning of the warm summer season.?People enjoyed the spectacular view at night. For some, it’s a great opportunity to take photographs.
