Tallinn to London Travel Experience via Ryanair and Stansted Airport August 2025

How is London in August? – Well, to answer this question, I travelled from Tallinn to London in August 2025 for various reasons. One, I had to go and visit my parents who live in East Ham, East London. Second, my wife’s brother lives in Wilmslow, Cheshire. We went to see my parents and then also celebrated “Rakhi”, an Indian celebration for Brothers and Sisters in Wilmslow.

August is the perfect time to travel, as the weather is amazing, cheaper flights and amazing big city vibes.

I had many things in mind this time around for my visit to London. My visit was short, only for 4 days, but I wanted to catch up on many things in this ever-changing city. In this blog article, I am sharing my experience while travelling from Tallinn to London in August 2025.

Tallinn to London Flight Experience

I booked the direct flight from Tallinn, Estonia, to London, United Kingdom via Ryanair. Booked my ticket several weeks in advance to secure the lowest fare and selected priority boarding with one checked bag for a smoother experience. Knowing travelling with a baby, you will always need to carry important things. Overall, I must say the Ryanair airline is amazing; they can give you the best deals on so many direct flights from Tallinn. Apart from this, I have a small gripe about how they keep pushing you to buy extras, especially since they make good money on the luggage. You have to be careful and travel smart, and light will be my advice while travelling with any budget airline these days, especially post-COVID-19.

Flying from Tallinn to London with Ryanair in August 2025

Tallinn Lennart Meri Airport (TLL) is small, modern, and extremely efficient. The check-in and security process was quick, and I had plenty of time to relax before boarding. Not to exaggerate, but you can come like 1 hour and 30 minutes before your flight, and you will be able to get all things done, i.e. luggage check-in, security, and go to your gate all in good 45 minutes to spare and coffee. And I did the same, as I have travelled a lot in the past from the Tallinn, TLL airport, and this one was no different.

In-Flight Experience: What to Expect on Ryanair

The flight was supposed to take off at 23.35 before midnight; however, it arrived quite late, and we finally took off at 00.14, which was well 35 minutes late. It was a late-night flight we were prepared for the zombie experience, but the flight delay added more to it. On top of that, the service inside the cabin was not friendly, the air hostesses and stewards kept the light on, and chatted around in their own Arabic language, which I couldn’t understand.

We landed about 20 minutes late or so. Here’s what to expect in the in-flight experience when a Ryanair flight is delayed:

  • No complimentary food or drinks — you can purchase snacks onboard, with card or cash.
  • Tight seating — but manageable for a short flight to London.
  • Friendly, efficient staff — Generally yes, even during a busy summer schedule. In our experience this time, it was a little dull.

Arrival at Stansted Airport

London Stansted Airport (STN) is located 40 miles (64 km) northeast of Central London. It’s a busy hub for low-cost carriers like Ryanair, especially in August. We got the immigration check done quite swiftly and collected the luggage in good time. We were lucky this time. Overall, I must say the experience in the airport from landing to exit from the airport was all good.

Arrival tips:

  • Be prepared for queues at UK Border Control. You may need a UK Visa depending on your status. Check out UK Visa requirements here
  • The airport has good signage for onward transport (train, bus, or taxi).
  • Baggage claim was quick, and I was on my way within an hour of landing.

Transport to London from Stansted Airport

This time, my parents were around to pick us up, and it was pretty smooth from there on. If you’re wondering how to get from Stansted Airport to Central London, here are the top options you can explore and plan with before travelling to London, even though I had no plans to take public transport this time. Following suits to different budgets and time needs.

1. Stansted Express (Recommended)

  • Fastest option (~45 minutes to Liverpool Street Station)
  • Trains every 15–30 minutes
  • Cost: Around £20–25 one-way

3. Terravision Shuttle Bus

  • Similar to National Express but slightly faster (~75 minutes)

4. Uber or Taxi

  • Most expensive option: £70–100
  • It may be worth it for late-night arrivals or large groups

I would choose the Stansted Express, which delivers a clean, air-conditioned ride straight into Central London, connecting easily to the Underground network.

Navigating London City After Arrival at Liverpool Station

Arriving at Liverpool Street Station from Stansted Express, you can use the London Underground to reach the hotel. The best part? You can pay for all public transport using:

  • Contactless bank cards
  • Apple Pay / Google Pay
  • Oyster card

Even during peak August travel, getting around London is still quick and efficient.

  • Choose Ryanair for budget travel, but be prepared for basic amenities.
  • Use the Stansted Express for the fastest connection to Central London.
